Colorado - Subaru 500M Bike Race

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

Last week I had the opportunity to go to Durango, CO to cover the Colorado - Subaru 500M Bike Race for Subaru.  This bike race is a true test to human body level of endurance as it is both on the streets as well on the dirt in the hills. Non stop for 5 hours.  I really don’t see how anyone went the distances let alone made for a good race out of it.  Durango is a awesome place and Subaru is a great host for the bike race.

Kansas Koyotes Football | Brian Wickett Photojournalist

Monday, June 20th, 2011

I had two things happen this weekend that just doesn’t happen to me very often…. I had a free Saturday and I was home.  So when the opportunity came up for me to cover the Kansas Koyotes Arena football game, well I jump on it.  I have never been to an arena football game and was very excited to see just what it was.  The game lived up to the excitement. It was cool!  This is a fast pace game and I am guessing due to the field being have the size of a regular football field so the speed of the game is greater.  I found myself having to be on my toes ready at all times or I would missed the shot.  The game has a learning curve…(talking photography) but, by time the first quarter was coming to an end, I had made the adjustment to both myself and my cameras.  Then it was smooth shooting rest of the game.  I want to thank Ralph the owner of the Koyotes for granting me a media pass which allowed me to be right up on the field as well as in the second level seating that was closed off to everyone else,  for the tower shots.   I can see myself trying to fit in a game or two during the next season as this was a lot of fun.

ADRL Drag Races | Brian Wickett Photournalist

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Keeping with my goal of writing about “all” photography on the blog and not just about weddings, I thought I would jump on the back of my last post, the AMA Sportbike races and chat a little bit about last years ADRL Drag races.  This was my first time to every attend a Drag race and well I can tell you one thing…. They are loud!  I was on assignment for these races with iStock and having fun. And fun it was.  I had a pit pass as well as my photographer alley pass, so I got to see it up close.  Pretty cool.  This coming weekend will be the 2011 ADRL Drag races and yes I will be attending, shooting for iStock and looking forward to seeing all the the cars again.  This year…. I will be wearing ear pugs…

AMA Super Sportbike Races | Brian Wickett Photojournalist

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

Ok…  When I started the blog I wanted to talk about “all forms” Photography and not just about our wedding photography.  Well it seems that all I have done is weddings.  So I am starting out today to correct that.  From here on out I will be making a point to blog about my other photography and photojournalism work.  I’m starting off today with a cool assignment I completed last summer.  The AMA Super Sportbike races.  This was a fun assignment, but a lot of work as well.  I was covering the assignment for iStock and let me tell you it was Hot.  I spent two full days (12 + hrs) shooting then processing and uploading to my iStock editor at night.  Hope you enjoy the photos.  If you would like to see more of this assignment or of my other photojournalism work stand by for my new website of Brian Wickett, Photojournalist.  This will be an addition to ProPhotos by Brian Photography website.  A kind of sub-website so to speak. You will be able to link to each one as well as the blog from each other.  It’s coming soon!
