We are very happy to be going into our 2012 wedding season with the new amazing Canon 5D mkIII.  For wedding photographers who shoot in the photojournalistic style such as Doris and myself, the 5D mkIII with it’s high ISO standards is the best tool on the market.  This year I will be capturing weddings with Canon’s top two professional level cameras in the 1D mkIV and the 5D mkIII.  Doris has also moved up in the camera world, but choosing to go with the Pentax K5, the best in Pentax’s Professional line-up.  Some of you who I have already shot your engagement session this year have seen Doris’s new Pentax K5’s as I have been shooting all engagement sessions with them.  I’ll hold off on going into my own details about the 5D mkIII and let you review Canon’s write up.

Canon’s 5D mkIII Overview

The Power to Create.
Canon is proud to present the highly anticipated EOS 5D Mark III. With supercharged EOS performance and stunning full frame, high-resolution image capture, the EOS 5D Mark III is designed to perform. Special optical technologies like the 61-Point High Density Reticular AF and an extended ISO range of 100-25600 (expandable to 50 (L), 51200 (H1) and 102400 (H2) make the EOS 5D Mark III ideal for shooting weddings in the studio or out in the field, and great for still photography. Advanced professional-level high definition video capabilities (that includes a host of industry-standard recording protocols and enhanced performance) make it possible to capture beautiful cinematic movies in EOS HD quality. A newly designed 22.3 Megapixel full-frame Canon CMOS sensor, Canon DIGIC 5+ Image Processor, and shooting performance up to 6.0 fps provide exceptional clarity and sharpness, even when capturing rapidly-unfolding scenes. Additional technological advancements include an Intelligent Viewfinder, Canon’s advanced iFCL metering system, High Dynamic Range (HDR), and Multiple Exposure mode — all of which that help make the EOS 5D Mark III the perfect multimedia tool.

What’s In Our Camera Bags….. | Topeka, KS Wedding & Portrait Photographer

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

Well now that the 2010 wedding season is over and we have wrapped up with all the Wedding Day Storybooks, Doris and I set down last night to see what was the most asked question throughout the year.  (yes we do keep note of the questions ask by our clients. Help’s us to improve our business for you.) You won’t believe it, but the most ask question this year was about GEAR…   This is great! Doris and I have been trying to get the word out to bride and grooms to ask the photographer about the gear he or she will be using to capture their wedding.  It really is important.  So we are pleased to see more clients asking us about our gear.  One that note, I would like to add a blog page of “What’s in our bags”.

  • Brian’s bag “ThankTank StreetWalker HardDrive”

Camera:  Canon 1Dmkiv “Best in Canon’s Prograde line-up” | Back-up camera: Canon 50D w/battery grip  |  Lenses: Canon 24-70 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 16-35 f/2.8L, 100 f2.8L macro  |  Flash: Canon 580EX II w/CP-E4 Compact Battery pack  |  radio Popper  |  Gary Fong Light Spear  |  Toshiba Prograde SDHC 32GB & SanDish 16GB (4x’s each) memory cards.   “Remember the 1Dmkiv camera holds both cards allowing for back-up recording.  Pro cameras make a different.

  • Doris’s bag  “Canon 1000DG Digital Shoulder Bag”

Camera: Canon 5Dmkii “The most thought after wedding camera from Canon”  |     Back-up camera: Canon 50D w/battery grip  |  Lenses: Canon 24-70 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 16-35 f/2.8L  | Flash: Canon 580EX II & Canon 430EX II w/radio receiver “For off camera  |  Radio Popper Transmitter  |  Gary Fong Light Spear  |  SanDish 16GB (4x’s each) memory cards

  • Formal & Reception Lighting Kit

8′ light stand  |  46″ silver reflective umbrella  |  Canon 580EX II Flash (2x on flash “T” bar)  |  Radio Popper receiver  |  3ft ladder/hand truck

Ok that it’s!  Looks like a lot of gear for a wedding, but really this is a slim set-up allowing us to move freely and fast to capture all the moments of your wedding day.  I think you can also see that family and friends just won’t have the required gear to capture those special moments as a professional wedding photographer can.
