April & Matthew are getting married in June of this year. So, we hook up yesterday for a fun engagement photo session at Old Prairie Town. The Tulip Time Days started Saturday, a couple of weeks early due to the weather we have had of late. But, not to many people knows of the early opening, so the crowd was not bad at all. The tulips are really nice and full of color, making for some cool back ground shots. April and Matthew are a fun, young couple and I am looking forward to capturing more images of them when photographing their wedding. Here is the “Sneak Peek” to yesterday’s engagement shoot.

The weather turned off very nice late yesterday afternoon, so Dawn, Aaron and I headed out to Ward Meade Park - Old Prairie Town to shoot their engagement session. Dawn and Aaron were a blast to work with and we capture some really cool images. I could have spent hours photographing them as much fun we were having. I am looking forward to being their photographer for their wedding in October. Here is a “Sneak Peek” of the images we captured.

Yesterday Doris and I met up with Charlie and Steven at Old Prairie Town / Ward Meade Park to capture their engagement photos. They are a great couple that drove up from Salina, KS. We will be capturing their wedding in September of this year. So check back for a blog of their wedding. We did something just a little different with Charlie and Steven’s engagement session. Doris has changed out her camera gear going from Canon to Pentax and has not put the new rigs into action to see just how they would workout. So she decided to tag along on our shoot and do a test run. I took one of her new cameras to use has my second camera and she shot with the other. Well she got a little trigger happy and shot a lot of me shooting Charlie and Steven. So I thought it would be cool to blend the two shoots into one for the blog and have a “behind the scenes” type of blog. So here is the “Sneak Peek + Behind the Scenes” of Charlie and Steven’s engagement photo session.

Doris and I had the opportunity to travel down to San Antonio, TX last July for a shoot and while we were in town we check out the River Walk, which is a very neat place to visit and the Alamo. The Alamo is located right in the middle of the city. Odd to see such an old historical building in the middle of all the modern city life. It was very hard to capture a photograph of the Alamo during the day that was worth keeping due to the amount of people visiting it. No matter how I angle my shots, I could never capture an image without people in it. So I went back to the Alamo late at night when no one was out and about and was able to capture a cool night shot. The Alamo, River Walk, and all of San Antonio is very much worth visiting. It is about a 13 hour drive from Topeka.

However, we worked / played with it and had a blast capturing our images. Dana and Kevin were really cool people to work with and I am looking forward to photographing their wedding day in June out at Lake Shawnee. Here is a sneak peak of some of the engagement images captured.

From the beginning of ProPhotos by Brian Photography, 9 + years running, we have always had clients ask us about canvas wraps. In the past we have not offer them due to the cost associated with vendors that design and build them. For a pro level canvas wrap, they are quite costly… However, that never stop me from wanting to be able to meet my clients wants and desires. So I pushed on to come up with a solution. The solution is here. I would like to announce the ProImage Canvas Wrap from ProPhotos by Brian Photography Image Lab. The same professional photo lab we have and you have (our past and current clients) used for 9+ years. I started working with our lab about two months ago in setting up a system to design, create and build the wraps and be able to have our clients place orders for them. The wraps are a custom product and could not be processed the same way as a photo. So we will be taking orders for them in our office much like we do for are Wedding Day Storybooks and albums. Check out the below canvas wraps, the image is from Brett & Melissa’s wedding back in August. You may remember seeing the image before as it was one of the selected images I used in their blog post. The first canvas wrap is with a black wood frame and the second one is with a photo wrap frame.

The wraps can be ordered in practically any size you may want. You will also have the choice to have your wrap in .75″, 1.5″ or 2.5″ deep — in photo wrap frame, black wood frame, white wood frame, espresso wood frame or single sheet-no frame. You may also choose between a 1 panel, 2 panels, 3 panels or 4 panels for your photo to be placed on. We also have the photo wrap canvas below on display in our office for anyone to stop in and check out. So if you’ve been wanting a professional canvas wrap for one of your special day photos, come on by and lets get your order in.

This wedding photo is of an image I captured two years ago at Shane & Laureen’s wedding. They had a very nice outdoor wedding and the weather was the best ever. We had set aside some time for just Shane, Laureen and I to have a private shoot session. We really didn’t go from the wedding location, just far enough to get away from everyone attending the wedding and to be alone. The sun was setting and we had just a few minutes to get the shot and bam! We nailed it. I really like the emotion that’s captured within the shot. I selected this one photo, for photo of the month, not just for the coolness of the shot, but more so to show just what a little time set aside during each wedding for a romantic session can do. 20 minutes and we can knock out about 10 or so additional shots that can really impact the overall wedding day story. Always, “Something to Think About”.

We have been receiving some emails of late asking us what’s going on with the blog in concerns of the lack of us blogging. So… I thought I would explain our madness during this time of year. First Reason For Not Much Blogging Of Late: We always try not to book weddings during January & February (however for 2012, we have a couple of weddings in February), this allows me (Brian) to complete all of the Wedding Day Storybook orders from past years weddings or from 2011 weddings that our clients placed their order after their wedding. With Wedding Day Storybooks, if you place your order before you wedding (at least 30 days) then I can set aside time in the editing process to move directly to your book upon completion of the editing of your images. This allow for a much faster turn around time for your book. If you order you book anytime after your wedding, then those orders are completed in the following January & February. Second Reason For Not Much Blogging Of Late: We take this time of the year to preform maintenance on all of our gear (not just cameras & lenses but computers, software, lighting, bags, m-cards and much more) and to evaluate the status of our cameras and lenses. This year we have upgraded all of Doris’s photographic gear and I am upgrading one of my cameras. So a lot of time in selling old gear and replacing with new gear. We are also spending a lot of time during this part of the year in putting into production new products for our clients. This year we have put on line our new updated version of the Wedding Day Storybook, our brand new “first ever” Wedding Day Proof Book, and we have made some major improvements to our image upload software to our blog in order to provide bigger, sharper images for viewing. Third Reason For Not Much Blogging Of Late: We are loaded with booking new clients for 2012 and 2013 weddings. Yes! We are booking 2013 weddings now.
So, to answer a few emails that we have received. Yes, both Doris and I are fine and doing well. Getting some much needed rest. (well a little anyhow) No, we have not moved or anything like that. We will be at our current location here in Topeka for a long time to come. So come on by and visit with us or just drop in and say hi. Yes, I am out shooting for some fun. Working with my new HDR software. Pretty cool item. Yes our RV is still going strong, no, we have not been on vacation. That’s coming later on in the year. Sometime!
Ok, I hope that clear things up to the lack of blogging here lately. But, we will be back to blogging on a steady base soon. I would like to thank everyone that emailed with your concerns. It cool to know that people out there in the world care about us as we care about each and everyone of you.
Chat with us anytime.

I captured this image a couple years back while Doris and I were on one of our many RV trips. Old Bodie Island Lighthouse is located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I wanted to post this as this months “photo of the month” to show just what can be done in the editing department with the right photo editing software along with a high end computer. This image was captured in normal color, then converted to black & white, then converted to a drawing, then converted one more time to a computer rendering of HDR image. This whole editing process took me over 4 hours to complete. I like the way it turned out… let me know what you think.

My last blog I introduce our new Wedding Day Proof Book. I spent several months in designing the software to create the proof book. Well… That’s completed now and it’s time to turn to what everyone see’s the most and that is our blog. Yes, I have put my time and energy into upgrading our blog. Now we have bigger and sharper images. This will allow you “our customers” to view our images even better. Below is a ”Show Off” of our new blog images. Hope you enjoy the improvements.
